New owner wondering on cheap mods?

I just bought a 94 F-350 5-speed Crew Cab Dually and wondered on what i could do to start with. I do need a turbo and i put a wanted thread out for that. Just wondered on what you all thought. I am not rich but figured i could start and see where i go with this lol.

well I would start with a Air Filter, Gauges, and exhaust. Most people run the 6637 Filter Mod. Shoot me a PM I have an elbow I can send you to do the filter mod if interested. Also you might want to get a down pipe when you do your exhaust. Dale at Tymar has a nice DP it starts at 3" then goes to 4" once it clears the firewall.

Thanks for the info i'll keep in touch. So far looks like the same concept as with gas turbo cars.

Sounds to me like your truck is a pre powerstroke. If it's non turbo its an indirect injection (IDI) 7.3L. Check the IDI performance mod forum to find out more mods there. Your on the right track, a turbo, exhaust, gauges to keep an eye on EGT's and boost, Intake. With that non computerised engine you can turn you fuel pump up a bit (be careful, find out the proper way or it could wreck your motor) and maybe do some injectors. All this stuff is not too cheap as was said before diesel and cheap don't go together. Good luck!

Chances are it is a Powerstroke becouse it has a 5 speed. I think (dont quete me) that all of the 94 with sticks had power stokes and most with auto's had 7.3 idi's.

If its non turbo, its not a powerstroke. Easy way to find out, look at the engine, look for injector lines, if it has larger metal lines, it's an IDI.

I was looking at a 94 5spd 7.3L before i bought my 95, and it was a Turbo IDI.

I believe in 1994 you could order a PSD DI, a non turbo IDI, or a turbo IDI with auto or manual.
