97 OBS boost ?

My friend has a 97 F-350 with a 5 speed manual trans. He is running a two stage programmer from Superchips and in tow mode he only sees 11 pounds of boost, sounds low to me what should it boost stock? It is all stock except the programmer, gauges and a high flow muffler.

he does get black smoke but it cleans up pretty good. he said right after he bought the truck he had to have the wastegate accuator replaced, I was wondering if it is not adjusted right.

Nothing over 30-35 pounds.

On another note, you should be getting good over 11 pounds. You have a leak somewhere. Check all the boots, and get a TW with custom tunes and you'll see higher boost.

Lots of guys here run 30+ psi no problem on their stock turbos, theres even a few hitting 40+ and there still working.

40 pounds is to high. Maybe if they are driving an 03-04 with a boost fooler. But the 97 garrett should not hit anything over 30. Maybe once in awhile is ok, but not a lot.
