performance
what kinda of power do you think i would make with a 6 position ts chip, 1.0 a/r housing, and diy stage 1 injectors. i have a 97 psd 5 speed with 3 inch duals and an s&b intake. i dont want to go hog wild on performance just yet i just want a little more to play with and faster spool. and a little more smoke. and what problems could i run into doing this cause a motor is the last thing i want to replace right now.

You have to pay to play and if your not prepared for it then I would suggest not doing it. Your trans is going to go before the motor though depending on the condition of everything.

everthing is sound on the truck and a better clutch was part of the plan also but will all this modding cause the motor to blow. thats my biggest concern. the truck has 191,000 on it

depends on your right foot. Do you have gauges?

As long as you keep temps at acceptable levels then you'll dramatically lower your chances of a failure

you would have pretty good power thats what im in the works of doing it should be plenty fast for what are trucks are

Well stock you're probably right in the 175hp range. With stage Is properly built and the mods you are talking about you'll probably be making between 260 and 280hp.
Sounds like you have a 5 speed so you are definitely going to need a beefier clutch if you still have the stocker. Also I'd skip the 1.0 turbine housing. It'll spool plenty fast with the stocker after the injectors are in. Drive it with the injectors for awhile and if you aren't making more than about 25 psi of boost then you can think about the smaller housing. If you are making more than 25 psi of boost the smaller housing is going to raise your drive pressures and overspool the turbo. You don't want to make more than 30 very often at all or you'll smoke the bearings in it. Also you might consider an intercooler. It will slow down your spool up a little (though it'll still probably be faster or as fast as with your stock injectors) but it will help keep your EGTs in check if you tow much. |

go for it!!
the stage ones made a huge difference on my truck, my stock clutch definately hates me though. and i wouldn't worry about the smaller housing, i bought one before i did my stage ones and never bothered to put it on, it spools just fine without it. and i make over 30 lbs of boost when i really get on it. |
