97 7.3 15k build up
I am new to the Ford world. As you can see by my sig, I know a thing or two about the Cummins but know nothing about the 97 7.3 powerstroke. I have a 97 crew cab 4x4 and want to make 500hp thats reliable for daily driving. Would you guys help me out in deciding how to spend my 15k. Here is whaat I am thinking. First a tranny, I figure 5k. Next a turbo, which one I have no idea but I figure 2k. Next injectors, 230cc I figure 2.5k. Next head studs and port the head, 1.5k. Next a lift pump 1k and then an intercooler 1.5k. The water meth for 500. So I think I am at 13k now. So i have 2k left for programming, which I have no idea who makes the best programmer for the 7.3, please help me with that too. What do you guys think, and am I close on prices. Please tell me what you would do, what products and around about price. If you have done this before, please tell me your story and how much you spent. Thanks guys.

As far as programming, contact Tony Wildman, Total Diesel Performance. He is a member here, as can do wonders with programming for a modified truck, a 6 position chip is 400.00 including programming, I think, and he does free reburns if you change your setup later. As far as turbos, I'd look into the H2E, it's around 2400, and has all the piping, etc to be a direct bolt-in. Myself, I will be getting a H2E in the spring.

An intake and exhaust would be a good way to spend some of that money...if you have any left over?

Intake
Exhaust Gauges DP-Tuner or Swamps Diesel(programming) Modded H2E turbo by Bean's Diesel Performance Hybrid injectors in the 230-250cc range by either Swamps, Bean's, DI, Jim Rose. Headstuds Valve springs pushrods Regulated Return Fuel system and in-tank modifications 17 degree High pressure oil pump (a must with a 97 model truck) Built Transmission (BTS or John Wood) That's a pretty solid list for 500+ HP on fuel only, I'll add some more if I forgot anything. |
