160/80s, tw tunes

So in the last couple of weeks I have got my new injectors and Tony Wildman chip put in and all I can say is it's a whole different truck now I had only dreamed it would run like it does. But.... When I get around 20psi of Boise the turbo sounds like a jet plane getting ready to fly out of my hood, is this normal? I have a stoke turbo still for now and a 7.3 I/C , 6637 filter. I know that 30 pounds of boost is max on the turbo I just want to know if this noise is normal or is my compressor wheel grinding the housing. I hope it's not

It sounds to me that the compressor wheel might be scrubbing. When my truck was in great shape and I got my 3"dp, 6637 intake and TS chip, I hit 23psi on the highway and it sounded fine....my EGT were scary high, but the turbo didn't even flinch.

Pull the intake and check for shaft play on the turbine

So I just check to see if my compressor whe and is rubbing my housing and it is but only when I push real hard . Is it hard to rebuild one or not to bad? Cuz I don't have the Extra cash right now to put a new one on . Plus it's not my DD.

If it's not your dd then save for the d66, if you need it order a rebuild kit, I've never done one but doesn't sound that difficult

I will just save for the d66. Since it only does it when it's at higher boost levels Iam not to worried about it. I saw a used d66 for sale on a powerstroke site but I think I will just get a new one so I know there nothing wrong with it rather than take the chance to save a few bucks

Rebuilding it is not difficult at all. I bought a rebuild kit from Riffraff for about $100. Took me roughly an hour to disassemble, clean and put it back together. As long as you pay attention to what you are doing you'll be fine. I'm pretty sure there are some how to instructions lingering around here somewhere.
