my buddies got a 24 valve cummins too, best reliable way to get more smoke is a smarty programmer and make sures hes got an exhaust and intake too. I would be weary of a wire tap chip just cuase my buddy did one of those and it sucked his VP44 dry. But if you want to smoke get a smarty thats what they are known for and his smokes prety well and its a good reliable programmer

yeah the smarties are insane on the 03-07 common rails they are a 190 horse programmer for them and they smoke like a train. The ones for the 24v are more like a 100 horse programmer but they are still awesome.

There is an independant Cummins builder/tuner that deals strictly with non-common rail Cummins. His name is Jim Jessup, from Indiana. He was an engineer on those engines, and knows EVERYTHING about them. I have 2 friends who have all their work done by Jim. The First item he added to their trucks was a set of injectors and a custom written tune (that is 100% safe) that he maps directly to the ECM.

The sticks for the Cummins are CHEAP, like $300 for 100hp+ injectors.

the latest download for the smarty 2003-2007, is advertised for 230wrhp but i dynoed mine last week and it was closer to 250hp. the quadzilla adrenaline is also very popular right now for the 98.5-2002 vp44 trucks.

sticks will also do the job. tell your brother to do himself a favor and get a fuel pressure guage asap. the lift pumps on the 98.5-2002 are infamous for giving up and taking the vp44 with it.
