Let's make this OBS mean!

Buddy of mine is a Chebby guy but got his first Powerstroke. He loooves his Duramaxi's but this truck was $5,000 and a great deal.

It's a red 4x4 Extended Cab. Longbed, SRW. 7.3, stock tranny. It's got 191k miles on it. The only thing it's got is a Hypertech Programmer on it w/ 3 positions.

He is planning on putting gauges in, a nice intake, and a 3.5" downpipe to 4" straightpipe exhaust, and eventually build up the tranny. So what should he do? All he's gonna do is pull a light trailer from time to time, doesn't NEED the black smoke and would like to keep his stock tranny for a while and have some decent mileage.

What should he do folks? I suggested a Tony Wildman chip.

Sounds like you got him pointed in the right direction. The tranny must be addressed if he wants his truck to hold up to the power of a TW chip.
Also about exhaust systems would anyone know if Gus Farmer would have a 4 inch kit for my truck.

do the typical chip, intake, exhaust, gauges first. Then get a good chip. Dave Lott at DI or Jody Tipton at DP Tuner would be my choices. I'm currently running Lott's tunes and they are working pretty good for me.

He won't be able to go any bigger on power than that until his tranny gets a solid rebuild. After that a set of injectors will make the thing really come to life! Stock the injectors just aren't big enough to really get a good jump on power so that's going to be his bottleneck until he upgrades them.

No cary you are just trying to find anything in what I say to skew it to what you want it to say and that's what is getting old.
