Need EGT gauge with turbo-back exhaust?

The previous owner of my truck hacked up the exhaust so I was thinking about replacing it with one of the turbo-back kits. Someone told me that I need to get an EGT gauge before I put on an aftermarket exhaust. True?

A egt guage is never a bad idea but I would say unless you are towing heavy or you have tuned your motor up the a egt guage reeley isnt a must have. The exhaust sytem will actully help keep the egt's cooler.

Agreed,
An exhaust will only lower your EGT's, so if that's all you're doing the gauge isn't necessary. If you add a "chip" then the pyrometer (EGT gauge) is strongly reccomended.
