Hey everyone. I'm pretty new here and new to owning a powerstroke. I just ordered a TS six position chip from kt performance. It comes with PHP tunes. My truck isn't at all heavily modified. I have an s&b intake 3" down pipe and 4" straight pipe with a 5" tip. I noticed that some custom tunes advertise up to +140 horse power settings. PHP says that with my truck and mods, 80 hp is the Max. I ordered thechip with two 80 hp tunes, daily driver and performance. How much of an improvement will these be power wise? The only thing i have to compare it to is an old superchips 1700 that i used to run. I only used that on the standard tune because it was before my down pipe install and honestly i really couldn't tell the difference between the standard (60hp) and off-road (80hp) settings. I know this question gets asked a lot but how much better are the custom tunes than the plug and play one size fits all tuners? Is PHP correct in their info about 80 hp being the Max? And how much of a difference will there be between the PHP 80hp performance and the superchips 80 hp off-road? Thanks guys really appreciate the feed back.

Custom tunes are tailored to your mods, the superchip is generic, it will be night and day, I had an edge evo on extreme and my tw chip on extreme would blow it out of the water easily

i kn ow i have a sd not an obs but i have the same experience.

i ran a superchips 1705 (now a glorified code reader) before my php, all i can say is my 60hp tow from php is more powerful the superchips on 90hp tow performance or 110 high performance.

That's what i like to hear. A friend of mine told me the 65hp daily driver would blow the superchips off-road setting (80 hp) out of the water. The thing can't come soon enough.
