New DP tuner

OK Will start with some basic then the question.
My truck is a 1997 Ford F350 Powerstroke. It has a intercooler, 4" exhaust, 17* hpop, and DD stage 2 injectors. Right now I running a Edge reprogramer, set at 100 hp and the truck runs good, some smoke but not to much down the track. I am still using the stock fuel system and stock turbo for now. Last 4 pulls has been at or near 300ft.
Here is the question
I ordered the new DP tuner with 100 hp and Custom truck pull setting, which is about 140 hp.
This is my thought. I should make my first pass (since I only get one) on the 100 hp setting and not on the pulling setting. I am told it will make a lot of smoke.
My thought is I should make more power on the 100 setting instade of the Pulling setting.
Am I thinking right or should I go for it and put it to the max.
I do have a full set of gauges. not that you can watch them at 18 mph down the track.

Just so you can see my last pull here it is YouTube - 97 Ford Truck pull 4

get bigger turbo, then run pulling

in all seriousness, i would try them. i would assume towing, even with smoke would be better.

Man the trucks gonna run much better in either tune from Jody with your stage II's than the edge did. The edge was not programmed any where near right with your mods on that truck

High range pull

Well after installing the new dp chip and pulling 3 times with it all I have to say is holy sh t.
With the edge tunner was pulling in low 2nd and it made the engine work at the end.
Now first pull was in low 2nd but ran the governor all the way down the track till i took my foot off the throttle.
So I tryed 1st gear in high range. The sled was heave, was able to pull at 17.5 mph and dug holes at the end of the track. Could not believe I did not run out of power at the end of the track. GD this thing is running good. In the last 3 pulls was able to out pull 4 dodge twins and they were pissed, being out pulled by a powerstroke with just injectors and a tunner. Stock turbo and fuel system. this is to good.

and here is my first pull in low range bouncing off the governor YouTube - 97 Ford Truck pull 7
