95 vs 96 computer??

This is my first post. I am looking to get better mileage out of my 95, it has a chip, exhuast, minor things. I was told that if I take the computer out of it and replace it with a 96 computer it would immediatley get better mileage and better horsepower. What are your thoughts to this? Any other ideas to increase mileage. Forgot to metion it is a man. with 4:11, and has 230k's, have owned it since it was new.

They are the same. Only difference is some of the programming in them and depending on what it is it isn't going to be much different. Especially with a manual. And especially if you have a chip it doesn't matter because what ever is on the chip will override what on the PCM itself.
