140V IDM mod resistor question

Hey guys im considering the 140V mod for the 3 IDMs i have (1 IDM100V and 2 IDM120V) and i know the 100V and 110V require 75K 1/2W resistors, question is i have a bunch of leftover resistors from another project but they are 75k 1/4W resistors. Could i wire them in parallel to obtain a 75k 1/2W resistor? Only reason is i dont want to have to order a million more because they generally come in big packs and just wanted to use what i had if i could, if not oh well

No, two 75 ohm resistors wired in parallel will give you a resistance of 37.5 ohms. Cheers!

I get mine here 5 x 1 2 Watt 1 Metal Film Resistors from USA 75K Ohm | eBay , pack of 5 and cheap. I'm pretty sure he also has the one's you need for the 120v idm.

How did they work for you? any problems? and the 120V idm requires the 73.5k ones

I modified mine about two years ago, been working perfect. I've modded three others since then for other guys and they have had no problems.

Just to be clear... There is ONE... Repeat ONE voltage IDM... The part numbers are just that, part numbers.

You can call up Swamps to verify this if you like, however it is fact.

To add to this, if you really want to do it right you want to do the HFHV IDM from Swamps diesel.

Doing a simple mod to an IDM is like adding a 10k resistor, sure you might get something out of it, but a chip is so much better.

From the factory there are three voltages 100,110, 120. I've also install a swamps idm and a diy 140v idm in the same truck and there was so little difference between the two that I'll just stick with the diy for penny's rather than the $150 one.
