Tranny & Torque Converter mods

Looking to buy an aftermarket tranny or build up mine. My current tranny is doing great with only 118k miles on her, but i am planning on doing stage 1 injectors and Tory or Beans 6 position tune so i want to make sure my drivetrain is in good shape before i put more power to it. Any suggestions on aftermarket trannys or should i just put better parts and a aftermarket torque converter??

Any and all suggestions will help, thanks!

The only aftermarket tranny most people on here would run is a bts. However that is a bit extreme unless you plan to tow heavy, or plan to make big power down the road. For stage 1's though I would do a bts valvebody, 3/8" cooler lines, tru-cool 4739 in the bumper, and a triple disc converter.

I had the trans slip code when I got my truck. I got the 6.0 converter from Cary, and installed the full Tugger 2 shift kit. Shifts great, and the code never came back. The stock design converter is junk, make sure it uses an aftermarket billet cover, not those crap stock converters they stick 2 discs into.

These transmissions get a hard rap, but I believe it's because of the junk converters Ford used.

I'm going to run my trans until it detects a slip. If it ever does, I'll get a full rebuild kit with Red Eagle frictions and Kolene steels.
