Any chips work to read trouble codes on '96??

I have another thread going about which DTC scanner to buy, but it occurred to me that I might be able to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. I've been thinking about a chip anyway. Does anyone have a chip that does both that will work on a '96. They are apparently NOT OBDII compliant, even though they are supposed to be. The ScanGauge II doesn't work.

Dp tuner infinity, reads codes, works as a gauge set up, and can do custom performance tuning, also can use it to choose selections on a current 6 pos chip

So, you have one? I've heard negative things about DP tuner, so I'm all ears if you have experience.

I have tony wildman tunes, but will be ordering the infinity as soon as funds allow, I don't have dp tunes, and have never heard anything bad about their tuning aside from guys with pmr rods who add bigger sticks and turbo's that blow rods but that I beleive is their own fault, guy is just bringing as much power to the table as possible, if you don't support the mods they will destroy a block

But you asked what did it all and that is going to be the best bet for everything, now you could get a custom 6 pos chip and edge cts, that would tune, check codes, and monitor everything

A custom chip and edge CTS would cost me a grand. Too much $$ for this guy.

I feel like I'd be missing out by using just a three stage programmer instead of a custom tuned chip. Maybe not. I can't afford the 6 position chip AND the Edge CTS together. If the CTS could have custom tunes in it, it would be golden.

Yeah but then it would cost more

Find a used chip for like $150-200, then send it off for custom tunes for $150, and buy a used cts for $150-250, still way under 1k, keep in mind you still need the egt gauge

already got an EGT gauge. Any compatibility issues?? It's a "Ford Racing" pyrometer gauge.

I haven't seen the Evolution CTS used on ebay; only the older evolution models for around the same $$$ range. They don't do the display, but read codes, I think. Gotta have the display if I'm gonna do this.
