Hey guys my buddy drives a 94 psd with a 5 speed. The build date is march/94. he has been told by other people that his truck is not capable of having a chip or programer installed. i want to know if that is true, i believe he can but looking for some more knowledgable peoples advice... Thanks for everything

If it is a powerstroke it can be chipped. If it is an early '94, it has a 7.3 IDI turbo and can't be chipped. Powerstrokes were only available late '94 with manual trannies.

I would contact Tony Wildman to make sure. We used to have a '94 PSD and i couldn't get it to download a SCT tuner, but I was told a chip would work on it. Tony will be able to verify, and he has some great tunes for 7.3's.

Double check the VIN code to make sure it is a Power Stroke and not an IDI Turbo Engine.

VIN position 8 "F" = direct injected turbo diesel aka Power Stroke.

If it is a Power Stroke, you can put a chip on it for sure.

The Tuners will have problems with it though and are really not the way to go on the OBS Trucks
