opacity testing and 6 pos chip ?

My stock 95 f350 has always passed the opacity test in CT.
0.01 or something ridiculously low.....

recently installed 3" downpipe with gutted cat. and a DIY intake.
planning a 6 pos. chip (wildman tunes??? ... undecided)
after my gauge install.

what can I expect for the next opacity test? next year...
not sure how much a cat effects opacity.... I know it was restrictive as all get out.

I think CT allows up to 40% opacity.... for my year truck...

I have read somewhere that the STOCK position on most of these chips is not really stock... but close.

Yep, seems like I'm the only one that cares bout your thread the state I live in and the one I register in both do not require anything for my trucks

Don't understand the reference either, seems opacity means the degree of light able to pass through

We do have Opacity here in Cali but it only for OTR tractors (diesels 98 and older are exempt). One inspector has a multi-leveled "grey card" and climbs to the top of the stack, the other inspector does a stab test. The first inspector matches the smoke coming from the pipe to the shade of grey on the card and that level tells the Opacity of the engines output. We have to do it every year at my family business. Done by the CHP. It's similar to what the SD have to do. OP the rule of thumb here in Cali is to get inspected on a breezy day as our light duty inspections are not the thickness of the exhaust but how long it hangs. The station inspector will tell us the same thing, to come back when it's breezy. Should work for you too. TW can burn an inspection tune too. Call/Search Cary here on the ORG at CT_Performance to get set up.
