I have heard 2nd, but if you can get by with it 3rd. But alot of trucks have trouble with third.

If you have enough power and a clutch that will hold, go as high it will tolerate. Once you get going and let off the pedal and everything is fully engaged your wheel speed is what will really get you down that track. Some of those pullers are moving 30+ mph down that track (actual speed, not tire speed) and I know I can't do much over 20 in my 5spd.

As for tires I have seen tons of combinations out there. I seem to see a lot of BFG A/T's though.

Interco Truxus STS tires work great for differant track conditions. This is what we use on our gas puller. 1000hp 514 Ford 8500 RPMs.

Update- I went with the toyo A/Ts again, except I went to a 35 13 on 18x10 black renegade wheels. I like them so far don't really know how they will do pullin but they seem aggressive enough for the little bit of power I have right now. Shouldve seen the wifes face when she first saw them she was like and then , and finally now shes like . After all I've read somewhere it's easier to ask forgivness than it is to ask permisson

I think they would work well on a normal track, but if you got a wet one you might have a problem. I know my terra grapplers, which as very similar to the Toyo A/T's don't clean themselves as well as I would like them to in the sticky stuff.

We pull our gas truck in a class called Run What Ya Brung in western Pa. Our truck is about 1000 hp. We run a set of those Truxus tires 35x12.5 and so do most of the trucks in the top 5. We have to run D.O.T. tires and now they have gone to a 12.5 wide rule. Good thing is most of us already run them. These are a great tire and have been proven for the last 2 years.

I hope you like the Toyo tires, they are a nice tire. Tell us how it pulls. Ive actually done very well with my Pro-Comp Xtreme ATs. 33x13.5x18
