Banks Techni-cooler

Are they a worthy addition? Anybody use one?
Right now my 95 auto is stock,,getting the TS 6pos chip, and plan on a downpipe/exhaust.
Thought the 95s didn't really benifit from an intercooler, unless maybe you upgrade injectors.

SEMPER FI

just found some links to answer some ??s,,but

From what i understand, without a turbo and or injectors, you would be wasting your money and actually would cost yourself HP.....With the turbo and injectors it would be money well spent though...

I'm still on the fence about puttin an inter cooler on my 94. Thinking about going with a SD (super duty) 7.3 or 6.0 cooler but not sure if the cooler air will make up for the loss of boost

We have a 95 guy locally. We put a TS chip, Snow water/meth kit, and injectors. Runs very very good compared to stock. Intercooler and bigger turbo this winter. Give us a call on sale prices this month. Buy them together and get a better deal. The snow kit cools the heat the TS chip will generate with ease.

well since no one else said that they actually used one i will be the first to say that i did...I bought the full banks powerpack for my 96 and installed it stage by stage and the intercooler being the last thing i put on i noticed a little more turbo lag but once that went away wow!!! what a difference. I also installed a turbo kit on my dads buddy 92 and without an intercooler the engine actually ran a little bit hotter

The 3-4psi you lose to an intercooler is more than made up for with the cooler denser air. You have more oxygen molecules per square inch with colder air than you do with hotter air. Just a heads up that ts chip will not come programed to run that great with an intercooler, a custom chip would be better programed to take advantage of the added intercooler.

I have a 97 Crew cab dually, powerstroke/auto with the TS 6 poss chip, down pipe, 4" back with NO muffler, k&n filter with no intercooler. Major increase in power and performance all around. I run it on 75hp towing and just started running it on a 100 hp for daily driving and increased my fuel mileage even more! Was getting around 13 unloaded stock, added the goodies and increased mileage to around 15 unloaded set at 75 hp, but now I it set at a 100 hp unloaded and getting right at 17mpg ! Oh yeah that is with 4.10 gears! So I would say save the money on th eintercooler!

For a flat lander you may get away with the mods and no cooler. If you tow at all I do recommend it. The newer style intercoolers show as low as 1psi drop across the intercooler.
