1994.5 Rebuild Time
Well the old girl is due for a rebuild at a shade over 300K. Here is a list of what im gonna do,
Rose Wood Stage 3 hybrid 238/100 TW chip reburn Arp Head Studs Ford Overhaul Kit Gear Head Performance Cam Stage 1 Main Studs, 910 valve springs Heavy Duty Push Rods Big Oil Garret GTX4294R Turbo, Now the old question comes up which head gaskets do i use. I know every one says OE gaskets but then i have 25000 miles before they bond correct? which i have no problem if thats what has to be done. Also should i consider fire ringing, ( are they safe for a DD)?? the second questions is she is definitely going to need a intercooler now, What do you guys suggest for a intercooler. i have no objections to building my own just curious as to what the best cooler is?? |

Have u done a compression test on each cylinder test to determine if u even need a rebuild? And an oil sample test?
As for head gaskets, if u pull the heads, u will need to o-ring, or fire ring the heads. Talk to carsons diesel performance...if u can get away without pulling the heads just head stud the stock head on the stock gaskets and leave it at that. U will need an intercooler, either use a SD cooler with metal end caps or get a BANKS, MISHIMOTO, hypermax, sperco, cooler for a 7.3 or any perfoamce 6.0 cooler and make your own pipes or buy a complete kit. I dont think u will NEED anything more then a stock intercooler but it never hurts.... of course u could go all out and do a water to air cooler in there and do something different. For oil, your not gonna need BIG oil for 238/100s, a t500 will run them but for effectiveness i would throw in a srp1.1 to make sure u got plenty of pressure It may be cheaper to find a good running low mile JY motor and do an oil sample and compression test b4 u buy it, and slap head studs on it, freshen it up with your mods, and run it! |

Your plastic 6.0 intercooler would never last on 238/100s...
