Cold air intake

Im thinking about putting a cold air intake on my 94 7.3 PSD 2 wheel drive reg cab. What do cold air intakes do, and are they hard to install thanks.

They let the turbo breathe easier. If you do a 6637 filter it takes about 5 min to install once you get the airbox out. If I remember right the airbox is a little tricky to get out, it's been a few years though. Just a word of advise, stay away from K&N not a good filter.

I also recommend the 6637. Easy to do, and cheap to replace.

I suggest getting the 4" clamp as well. Makes things easier.

I was looking for a new intake and installed the 6637 Kit today, simple to do and ditched the K&N that was on my '97 F-350. Got an assist from 351fifty over the phone to tell me it was okay to rip that old K&N tub off its rubber attachment points. Thank you everyone for the insight in this thread and others.
