Edge Evolution problem

I actually got an Edge Evo for Christmas tried to connect it to my truck but it didnt work so i called Edge and the guy told me that either the computer was bad or there was already a chip in it. Im pretty sure that its not already chipped so what computer is he talking about and is it possible to get a replacement or get it refurbished. Sorry if this is a noobish question but im very new to the 7.3 engine.

What year is the truck and is the edge a model for your truck?????
Some older model 7.3 about 1994 won't work I beleive

Its a '97 plus if the thing wont work my trans is safe

It is the evolution cs. And my truck is an auto.
Is it really that bad for the transmission even if i just have it on the first power level

Mine shifted hard as hell rite up until I sold it, got another used it twice and shifted hard for a month, I wouldn't run another, I thought the cs was 99+ and or gauge display only

I'm going to pull my evolution out of my 94 been having some really strange intermittent issues I believe may be related to edge saving for wild man tunes

my truck ran good with an edge evo but it acted funny, if i was as smart a few months ago as i am now id have taken it off. it straight died in the middle of an intersection with it on once...... with a semi truck coming, i was turning right on red... i would sel it while its new and get good tunes
