Budget Torque Converter?

Does anyone know of a torque converter for an e4od? I would like to upgrade my trans but I don't have much money. I don't want to go crazy, but Target HP is about 450-500. Any suggestions?

Not the point. Towing TC are much tougher then standard and some performance TC. A lot of the "performance" TCs out there are just re-badged towing TC with a price hike. A tough towing TC will take your mods and then some.

As Matt said, it will support what you want to do for a decent price.

Sorry but to support 450-500 hp you will be needing much more than a TC

Elmo's right, I'm on my 4th tranny (yes Elmo I too did not heed Bill's advice about going big the first time and be done). In my opinion torque is what most people don't think about when they want more power and torque is what brakes things. At 450-500hp you are in 750-900lbft torque and there is your killer right there.

Joe, sorry if my first post came out d!ckish. I didn't mean it too. I just wanted to say that a good towing TC can be the same as a great performance TC but cast a lot less money.

I have the billet towmaster. $348. So far I've towed about 15k with it and have zero complaints.

If you start with a fresh rebuild and put a good TC and a good VB (JW or BTS) and run tunes from a good tuner, you should get pretty good life from the trans. That being said, it will fail if abused.
