Cat/Muffler delete question. Emissions?

Currently I live where no emissions testing is required. We may move, however, and I'm a little concerned with removing the cat and muffler if it has to pass wherever we move.

Will deleting them affect my chance of passing emissions and what is the advantage anyway?

Thanks for the patience with a noob.

your best bet if you may move to where they do testing is to get the "test"pipes that will alow you to put your cat and muffler back in for testing just make sure you use band clamps and not the regular ones that crimp the pipe down. the benefit of removing them is they are restrictive for the turbo. it will work more efficient with no restrictions to get rid of the exhaust faster and lower your egt's.

I thought diesels didn't get emissions testing. Guess it depends on where you live. Memphis plugs into the obd port to make sure there is no check engine light. I took an international bob truck through and they didn't hook up to it, they just made sure everything works. (of course it does not have a obd port, but they asked about it)

Parts of Cali do have emissions testing but it is no more then a snap test. Go on a breezy day and you are hard pressed to fail. No visual testing as there is no standard for what is supposed to be on the truck (and only '98 and newer) and no sound laws as the laws are written for and stated within either for vehicals with less than 6000GWR or more then 15000GWR.
