egt sensor install questions and intake questions for a rookie

Hello i am new here and have just bought a 1996 f350.. i bought a banks turbo downpipe and it has a spot for the egt sensor.. what wld be the acceptable range for the sensor if i installed it there? The truck is stock and i wanted to install the down pipe and get a baseline before i did other modifications to it. Alot of ppl suggest putting the sensor in the manifold. I am a little gunshy about drilling it. And has anyone tried installing the ford severe duty airfilter kit from a 99 psd onto an older one?

dont know much about the severe duty filter, but as far as the down pipe goes i had one in the DP and is obviously 2-300 degrees off from the manifold, you actually wanna know whats going in the turbo not going out of it bro, so manifold, i drilled the drivers side one and then tapped it, took all of a couple hours and get a good tap and die set to do this with, i didnt worry much about the shavings since they were falling as i drilled up, and my turbo is just as happy and healthy none the less, i have an afe all metal intake and i love it over my fram knock off of the 6637 mod, good luck and welcome to the org

1250* is about as high as you wanna get it, anything more than that it needs to be short bursts like a few seconds max, but i cruise at about 600-800* but i am also intercooled, good luck

I tried searching on here but couldn't find it.... Is there a good write up on how to install and EGT sensor and gauges showing where to drill the manifold and keep the shavings out of the turbo?

Bottom of the driver side manifold on the flat spot. If you run the sensor post turbo, 900* is about as high as you want to go
