Will I need I/C

I have a 1996 f350 psd with 3" downpipe, 4" exhaust, 6-position chip, Tymar intake, and the cross over oil line. If I upgrade to Rosewood stage 1's will I need to put an I/C on the truck. Also should I put a 17* HPOP on the truck with the stage 1's or is my stock HPOP sufficient? Thanks for any info.

a 17* or terminator pump would be ideal. if your stock one is healthy it will run them but not optimally. you wont need an intercooler but keep an eye on egts and if you tow real heavy it would definitely be a good idea

I would say an intercooler would be a great idea but if u dont have one u will have to watch EGTs like a hawk. As for the HPOP, a 17* will do but a t500 would be better

thanks for the information. I do not have the funds for an I/C at this time. Does anyone know how much the T500 is over a SD HPOP?

You will not need an IC more than likely. I know many people w/ stage 1's and their egt's are beutiful. You wont need a 17* hpop either, but it wont hurt. if you can find a cheap super duty pump, grab it.

You will need a IC unless you back out at 1250* towing..so your only using the power your getting with stock Inj's and a chip..whats the point?

Test your HPO #'s in the hotter tunes ..should be 3000psi under 40%

Cary, so ur saying if I put stage 1's in and not an I/C I won't be using any of the gained power due to the high exhaust temps? Just stay with what I have until I can afford I/C. What does the average I/C cost? Thanks

I know many guys on here towing with stage 1's and they never have heat issues. Make sure to order a tow-tune to keep heat under control.

I have a tow tune. I've seen on this forum that a 17* HPOP usually cost around $380.00 and that was for a 99 to 03 psd. Will that one work on my 1996 with no modification? Does it just bolt on?

Ya a 17* will bolt into your truck... but for another $120 you can get a terminator engineering t500 pump, which is even better than a 17* SD pump. You dont need a pump unless your at stg II or greater injectors.
