Bump to a old thread. Has anyone ever tried using cooling device ( co2, nitrous, etc) to cool the water immediately before going into the air to water cooler, instead of just cooling the outside of the cooler? Kind of like an oil cooler, but using it to cool the water charge instead? of course this system would still utilize a heat exchanger.

Although it would be very frowned upon by environmental agencies I’ve seen liquid Freon sprayed thru atomizing nozzles aimed at the OEM intercooled which worked EXTREMELY well. I don’t recall the temperature drop, but it was significant. CO2 and nitrous would not last very long, plus you have the hassle of high pressure cylenders to contend with.
