TS 6 pos chip not working

Alright, I got a 6 pos chip from a guy who claimed he got it for a truck he was working on but it wouldnt work because the truck was a California truck. A friend got it for me so I'm not sure its for the same year truck as me (97) but it was supposed to be. The truck will start on any position and will switch through some of them while still idling fine, while others it either idles very rough or shuts off. So any ideas or just a crappy chip?

Sounds to me like the chip doesn't match the calibration code of your pcm.

it probably will have to be re-burnt to your code....you can get the code off your PCM with a clean table knife anda flashlight....if the tag is still there....stick the knife (with light) down behind the PCM and you will, (hopefully) be able to read the code.....

Is there any way for me to tell what truck it is burned for and where what would be a good CHEAP way to get it reburned. Thanks for the fast responses

nope, at least not that I know of...

get your code, send the chip to the tuner of your choice, and have it burnt for YOUR truck....
