Intercooler
ive been lookin at a lot of different intercooler options and reading a lot of forums. whats the point in having 3" piping when the outlet off the turbo is not 3" and the spyder is not 3" (or modified y pipe) or the plenums? also after looking at some of the other brands of intercoolers what kind of size would you guys look for? since you can get 3" or even 4" thick ic's. maybe im missing something or not lookin at something right i dono. let me know what you think guys.

Not real sure exactly what you are asking, everyone here either uses a Super Duty 7.3 aluminum IC or one from 6.0

I agree with you StrokerRH, I guess that's everybody but me uses the 6.0 intercooler. I use an ATS intercooler designed specifically for our trucks. When I was researching intercoolers, I didn't really care for some of the less than visually appealing jobs being done by some trying to make the 6.0 intercoolers fit. I guess I wanted my install to look more factory looking but, I didn't want to spend $1,200-$1,500 on an intercooler. I used Searchtempest to find a slightly used Intercooler for $600 shipped. It seems to have smaller tubing and it may not be the most efficient but, it bolted right up without major modification. Here's a link:
Huh, it doesn't look like they offer one for the 94 to 97 models any longer. Last edited by Frostbite; 02-05-2012 at 07:08 AM. |

Here's mine fully installed. used all the E99 parts, the spyder and aluminum cooler, and custom pipes, $530 total invested
