New HPOP on obs

I have a 96 stroker with a few mods on it and the next thing im doing is a hpop. I found a 17* from an 02 SD for $400...but it is a 2.5 hr drive to get it...and hes not negotiable...i think i will just go for the Adrenaline. Is $400 a reasonable price for him to ask for a used hpop?? cuz the adrenalines are only like $580 er something...whats yer guys' thoughts on this.

(PS i also looked for a 17* at the dealer, i got a good account there and they wanted $1000 even after bringing the core??? with my account down to $778 bringing in the old hpopo). thats crazy isnt it??

i dunno i guess i really dont know the price market for a better then stock HPOP so...

woahhhh man. do NOT pay $400 for a stock pump. and drive 2.5 to get it.

i paid $150 and had it shipped down from MI.

then paid joey at te $60 to mod the pump.


and yes, DONT get a new one

$400 is way too much for a used stock pump. They show up in the classifieds from time to time for $150 or so. Joey's price to modify one has gone up a bit but is still very reasonable.

Thanks for the insight on hpop. I dont really know prices but i thought $400 was too steep...i have been looking in the phoenix area for 3 months now and that one was the only one i found used. Everyone that is parting out diesels seemed to only want to sell the engine whole so havent found a big market here.

talked to him hes gonna let it go for $150 plus $20 shipping. Do you guys think i can use my IPR of my old one because its only like 2 mos old. also what about gaskets and stuff, am i gonna need a gasket kit? any insight on this would be much appreciated...thx for the link superduty4x4!!

yes ipr can be reused. gasket...unless you are careful, you dont need it. or just order a new one from ford. $20ish

You can get a new HPOP gasket at dieselorings.com for just over $15.

at dieselorings.com you can get a 7 o ring kit, the non-serviceable plug, and gasket. if i am buying a used hpop should i just replace theses all just so i know its not gonna leak or is that really not necessary? I just dont want to do all this and put it in then a month later er somethin have the infamous oil puddle...
