Fuel system
Well i would like to put a eltronic fuel pump in my truck.. i really dont like the maxed at 5psi manual pump..... I would be interested in like the air dog duel filter pump that does 100gph,,, But how hard is it to switch from manual to electric? I got a 1997 7.3... And this fuel system is the next project.. Are there kits for it or? Any help would be nice..

Beans Diesel has an electric fuel system if i remember correctly and so does dieselsite..
Someone on here made their own electric fuel system, cant remember who though, try using the search function it might come up. Now I dont know how hard or easy installing it would be because honestly I will probably never install one, but thats just me. Good Luck and Im sure sometime who has done it will chime in. |

Are you under the impression that the stock mechanical fuel pump on the OBS powerstrokes only produces 5 PSI? The mechanical fuel pump on the OBS trucks is capable of 60 PSI all day long as it's a 2-stage pump. |

What do you mean by 2-stage pump. And ya the mechanical pump runs pretty good at 60 psi. With any larger than stock injectors i highly reccomend Electric fuel, really helped my truck out.

The low pressure side is responsible for sucking the fuel from the tank and pumping the fuel through the filter housing. From there, the fuel is routed back into the fuel pump and pressurized a second time to be pumped through the banjo bolt at the rear and the hard lines that go to the back of the cylinder heads.

ok, never really knew how it worked. But DIY electric fuel works great, pressure never drops, quicker starts, smoother idle.
