Repair and mod IDM?

Last Friday my stock IDM went out. My brothers friend loaned me a 120v IDM that is good until he got a new one he had loaned out back, which he was going to sell to me. He's afraid he got screwed out of the new IDM, and i have to have one so he sold me the used one. Is it possible to repair and mod my shot IDM? I'd like to get something out of it, instead of it just lying around and taking up space or throwing it away. What i'd ultimately like to do is get it repaired and modded into a 140v and then sell the 120v.
