96 f250 power package
hi, i'm new to forums and to my new(to me)1996 f250 extd cab 4x4 auto, its bone stock but soon im gonna cut the muffler and cat off, but I was wanting to get around 300-350 hp and 700-750 ft-lbs at the wheels, and I was wanting to know the best way to get there, and if those were possible numbers, and if the truck would still last and be reliable, and if i would need to get a new tranny or just a torque converter thanks ...

Injectors, turbo, chip, and trans. That ought to get you started.

You can get 500 streetable horsepower to the wheels......
300-350 is a good number to shoot for but go with what 66Bronco said. With the stock setup and a chip, the most you'll ever see is about 200-220 RWHP. In addition, your automatic transmission is going to be hating life with much more than that so plan for a full rebuild before it breaks. How much money do you have? Anything's possible. |

well im in college so im on a budget and was planning on making a cold air intake and possibly putting a 6.o intercooler on it too, but as far as injectors and turbos and trannys go which have yall tried and liked or heard good things about, i was considering following dieselpowermag on there 97 f350 setup but i have heard ats makes a better built tranny...thanks for the input guys

When you say Bts I'm assuming brians truck shop

with this setup could I run a TC/VB combo or would that not handle it either...

The valve body won't make the transmission any stronger. If you're going to add one, just spend the money and get a new "built" transmission.

yes, but a valve body can prolong its life, by making the trans shift quicker, thus putting less wear and tear on the clutches

so would my stock tranny handle 400 hp with a trip disc converter and a VB and good tunes
