is an intercooler necessary?
Say you had tranny savers or stage 1 sticks with a d66 and good exhaust, is an IC necessary?

at that level no, but by no means will it hurt. if you tow alot and your egt's are running high, then an open exhuast and intercooler setup would help.

I thought that it would be but maybe not. It wouldn't hurt and it can be done cheap

In my case NO. I was running stage 1s with a stock turbo and the I/C showed me almost no gain. I agree with whats stated above. If your not having EGT problems currently I would waste your time.
