96 powerstroke tranny

Hey guys new here i just found out that my transmission sychro is going bad from second to third. I figure they are all getting worn out anyway so i had a few questions. Its a 1996 f-250 powerstroke 5 speed manual. i will eventually have to replace the tranny and was wondering if there are other options to choose from or if i have to stick with a rebuilt stock transmission. other options meaning....are there wider ratio trannys or mabey a 6 speed that will mesh with my truck? What about a splitter?....i think that would be nice but i dont know how much they run compared to a regular transmission.

u can do a 6 speed out of a new superduty but i dont think its a direct fit, if i could i would do a 6 speed since i never use 1st
