I own a 97 7.3 powerstroke. And I've done a few mods on it. I'm looking into upgrading the turbo alittle I found a billet rebuild kit for it but can't find a housing. I'm interested in the 1.0 housing. If anyone knows any links please let me know thank you
1995 f250 Xlt 7.3 powerstroke 4x4 5speed. I have a few questions. Down the road I would like to buy a bigger turbo or a billet upgrade kit(or better brand) what are a few things I should probably do before that step. Just so my motor withstands more boost. Please and thank you
Just a daily. I don't want nothing crazy. I just know the factory Garrett is alittle slow. I have a TS chip. And a 3"down already. I may buy new nozzles for my truck. 50-75hp ones nothing crazy. Like I said daily driver. Maybe a little mudding here and there. But nothing serious or crazy
You will actually benefit from a smaller turbo, aka 1.0 housing. Better down low torque, lower EGT's while cruising. Throw some 160/30 injectors in there and you will have some great down low torque. You will lose some top end but how often do we spin these things to 3000rpm on the street?
Not often. And for hauling I may haul a bass boat or 4wheeler around maybe a portable welder. But other than that nothing serious. So don't even worry a out new turbo housing just so the other stuff first. I ha EA the chip and new intake already. Next step may be gauges
I'm running the KC-TP38R from Corey on my '97 and I'm more than happy with it. I'm also running his stage 2 HPOP but on stock sticks for now (stupid money). The increase in low end torque and throttle response was noticeable even with the inter-cooler. Cruising EGT's with no load is sitting about 5-600, about 100 to 150 degrees cooler than with the stock turbo.
