Question about a 94 Model
Since I dont know much bout the early PSD's and IDI's, I have some questions.
My brother, whos a huge Dodge fan, picked up a 94(11/93 production date) 1Ton 10 lug dually service truck. I know right? he came to the darkside! ahahah! It looks to be an IDI 7.3, you can see the glowplugs in the intake section beside the heads. it had a turbo though. and a big airbox comming off the turbo that holds a filter and it says "Ford Turbo" on it. the badging looks like its original, it says turbo diesel. the turbo is wastegated, its a garret. smaller than a SD turbo. the turbo sits on a 45* angle(compared to the OBS and SD turbos) over the top of the rear passenger valve cover. Truck has 170K on it, and it sounds good when running, and he said it moves well, and has pretty good power. My questions are: is it a factory set up. he wants better mileage and some power, but not a TON of power. What are his options for intake, and such..... I would definately tell him to open the exhaust up..... What kind of stuff can you do to the trans? hes not sure its working totally like it should.

Get a pic under the hood but the build date tells me thats a factory setup
 Not a whole lot of performance mods for that engine. Turn the pump up and let er rip. There should be a write up in the IDI section for that.The should be plenty of build parts for the tranny though. Its a C6 if its an auto

Thought ford was doin the E40D by then?
Does it have an overdrive? A buddy of mine had one a long time ago. Think any performance mods are gonna be "custom" lol.

Its definately an electronic OD tranny. its got the OD on/off button on the column...

Where is the write ups on this engine? is it a 7.3 IDI,. or is it a non powerstroke 7.3?

Done some searching, some IDI's had a turbo from the factory.

94 you could get three dif 7.3s.... an IDI non turbo, an IDI turbo(like this one), and a Powerstroke (manual only). If its an auto its an E4OD.
The best thing he could do for mpg would be a gear swap all the F-SUPERDUTYS had 4:88 or 5:13 gears.

I thought this looked like a factory setup, just wasnt sure. Where is the thread on turning up the injection pump and fuel pump on here?
I got to have him get some guages on this thing too to monitor all that stuff.....
