Someone please school me on the resistor mod
After doing tons of research I tried the 10k. Had no luck with it searched around some more and came across a guy over at FTE named Coonhunterjoe. He wired his resistors inline. After doing it this way, I noticed a HUGE improvement over stock. However the idle was still a little screwy.
After some more research I wanted to tame it down a bit, so I went back to radioshack and bought a higher number resistor 22k, which is "SUPPOSED" to tame the injector pressure. I guess when wiring the resistors using this "INLINE" method, the higher the number the more fuel the motor gets, cause with the 22k it was crazy. So I bought a 5.6k today and it's just about right. I guess "jumping" the terminals with the resistor has the exact opposite effect as running it inline when your talking 10k vs 22k I need someone who knows about electricity to explain why it works like this. You would think the lower number would produce less effects. But for some reason, when you jump the terminals with a lower number resistor you get greater effects.. This is starting to bother me Anyone care to elaborate?

Ummmm....
Just buy a chip. ??? Good jump in power and takes care of all that. |

Adding a chip to your computer will get you a power increase and do what you're trying to do with the resistor, but does it much better.

I realize what your saying DZL JIM
. However, I would like to know the theory behind the question I asked in my original post. I know a chip does what I'm trying to accomplish with MUCH better results. But I didn't ask the question: "What is better, a chip or a resistor" Does anyone on here know the answer to my original post?

Ok, well I can't help you there.
It amazes me how many people don't even have a chip for their trucks. These days it seems it's the first thing you buy when you get a Power Stroke. Good luck. |

i just bend the hooks and put it in the face of the connector, and snap it back in.
i've tried a 5.6k, 10k, and i put a 15.6k in last, and gonna try it for the first time today. |

I dont know the theory behind the resistor but Iv done this an it blew my ECM computer! So in regards I would not suggest doing that just buy a chip they give more hp to begin with an it wont fry you ECM!!!

oh yeah...
the truck really likes the 15.6k mod. I'll post up pictures of how its pretected and plugged in maybe tommorrow. |
