I tapped into the light switch, the dimmer wire as a matter of fact. I also tapped into the power wire for the tank selector switch to power the gauges that need it.

I stuffed the light wire in the dimmer fuse in the fuse box, and for power I stuffed it in the power window fuse, so its only hot in run, and mine dim perfect, with the autometers I recommend using a green led or what ever color you like led, kause the green nipple will barely change the color of the light, but other than that they are great.

I just completed a quad gage install using automater gages on my 03 ex. I tapped into the lights behind the factory light switch.

Check out the writeup on riff-raff's web site. There are some great pics to help with the install as well as a few tips. The autometer web site also has a good writeup.
