Where to mount aux. switches?

I am going to add some additional back up lights (mounted on the trailer hitch) and I want to add some strip lights under the lip of my bed (so the bed has more light at night). Where should I mount the switches for these? Also, has anyone done this...any specific recommended lights and/or switches?

I have a switch panel that I have locked in the ash tray when it's shut, it's not the most professional thing , but it's not perminant, I'd look to completely remove my ashtray and put my switch panel down there.
