custom dash 5 gauge pod

i have the pillar pod with the essentials. (Tranny temp,EGT,Boost)

i also have a oil psi,oil temp,coolant temp,fuel psi,and HPO guage.

could never come up with a suitable option to mount them so here is the start.

pic 1,2 heated a pc of plastic sheet in the oven @ 350 for about 5 min till it was pliable. then i molded it to the dash where i plan on putting it.

pic cut 5 pc of plastic 2" pipe to hold the shape intended.

pic 3,4 positioned the pvc where i wanted it and the desired configuration. then proceed to secure with hot glue.

pic 5,6 after the glue cooled i used an old t-shirt and hot glue to acchive the desired shape.

pic 7,8,9 after the fabric is in place i test fit and prepare to glass in. that will follow in a few days.

that looks awesome, i would have spaced the base 3 to bring the top 2 down a bit farther so as not to be so tall, but your work looks great so far, its a nice use of the retarded blank space on the obs dash, btw is that a pioneer deck there? what kind is it?

Subscribed to see this through as well. Good idea you have there. I'm with the other guy to I would have did the little more space on bottom three to make it not stand so tall. But it looks really good at the moment. I would be happy with the work if I did it.

got one coat of glass resin on it. tomorrow i will sand it down some coat again. then this weekend i will finish it with some body filler, skim with glazing putty and grain it then paint.

or i will try wrapping it in vinyl . but i believe it will be difficult with all the complex curves.

the latter sounds more difficult so i will try it first.

Oh yeah just curious how are you going to anchor it down. Or does it sit so well that it wont move around?
