This will be the home of my build. I believe it will be the first time it has been done. This started 3 weeks ago as a late night conversation and is now a complete project. The whole thing took 2 weeks to the day to complete.
I want to give a huge thank you to Zach (forddieseldoctor) for giving me the wiring information needed to complete this mod.
Thanks also to Garrett (weareweird69) for his support, and to Bill (alberta 7.3) for making sure the safety features were kept intact.
All pics and information for the build will be posted in this first post for ease of understanding.
Console arrived today, for anyone wondering exactly what I am doing....
The console and shifter I used are from an 06 F150 FX4
In position
Image

I got the console to sit lower and in the correct position by taking out the heat tube under it, as that wont be used.
Console mount

Console mounted

Dash wings installed

Shift cable modified and installed, didnt even need to adjust cable, the spot I modified it to fit made it the perfect length. I used a file to cut new grooves into the cable lock to fit the shifter

New front console, I need to find better matching black and gray, but the overall fit is pretty good

Console disassembled for paint and paint matched parts.

Hey Elmo! Can't wait for ya to get started on this! Thought of it many times myself;)
Are you gonna tie into the dash, something custom or just leave the gap? Where are you gonna relo the AIC?

And remember the Ebay "Buy it Now" button is an evil thing:D

hahahaha yes it is but I 'got it now' lol

I am not sure on how it will tie into the dash. I will figure that out when I have everything laying here. As for the AIC, my plan is to incorporate it into the console...somewhere, again when I have everything here, I will know where I will put it.

I'd figure I'd subscribe, since things I mentioned about this mod when it was discussed in chat seemed to go unnoticed.

I am wondering if I should get a new shift cable for, 1. my existing 350 and 2. for the 05 console shift 150, so I can compare side by side and use what works and return whats not needed....I think something of this nature is what Bill had in mind of using the 2 cables together to keep all safety features? Or am I way off base Bill?

:thumb: Yes, use some combination of two cables to retain the park/lock cylinder relationship. I'd hate to see a panic situation where somebody needs to kill the engine and coast off the road, just to lose steering control because they turned the key too far back. It sounds like a "nobody is that stupid" or "I'd never worry about that" situation, but we all know the human brain drops intelligence in a crisis.
