What Head Unit
im just throwin this out there but what brand head unit is everyones favorite. got a few standards tho... has to have an AUX and USB inputs in the rear, play MP3 CDS, it has to have a trunable volume control, and it has to have the abiity to search staions manually, not only with scan and seek. im lookin to end up with a crystal clear acustic sound system that is just outright awesome. i dont want to have a bunch of subs so i can pound and thump goin down the road. not my cup of tea. i just want ear percing sound that is clear! speakers will come later on in the picture
lookin for who has.......... -best sound output (i know that depeds on the speakers but if the unit is junk you cant get good sound) -best station pickup, if i need to upgrade my attena i will with a few sugestions -usibilty, i have big hands so i dont want tiny little button i need a pencil to push, i prefer knobs over buttons but i dont like the multi purpose knobs that tun but you press so the side and they scan or have somekind of function. i end up doing three things buy just trying to turn it up and then i get pissed and turn it off -and again USIBILTY, stock radios are in my opinion by far the most user frendly, big button, big knobs, and a knob for tunning (except for the OBS radio), but it seems that no aftermarket ones have this kind of options on them Last edited by ol_Blue97; 11-13-2011 at 04:55 PM. |

My first thought would be an Alpine, but they are not usually cost effective. Seems the only way to get a decent one is to wait and pick up a used one.

I have an older version of this
Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. No cd player at all. Only usb and Ipod and aux in. They are not front input, but I have them wired to come out in the center console. I like it, except on mine, the volume knob doesnt turn, you turn it slightly repeatedly each direction to go up or down. Thats my only complaint about it. |

that would be a no go for me. i will have to turn it.. i want the aux inputs in the front but having them in the back would ne nice too. do any units have both

You might find a deck with one of the front and one in the back, but I would doubt you would find both.
Just curious, but what is your need for front access? I have a Sony deck in my yello truck that has front USB and Aux, and it sticks out quite far with a memory stick in the USB, and I always ended up pulling the aux cord out when I was hooked up. The only reason I put a sony in it was because the deck and 2 speakers were only $60. I hate everything else about a sony deck. Especially the reminder beep that plays when you shut the ignition off. This is only my opinion, others may disagree. |

you might have me talked ou ot the front ports.... i like the idea of having rear ones and puting them hidden in a compartment or something.... im gonna do an edit

Even if the USB ends up in the glove box, its still handy. The Aux should be easily accessible to the drivers seat.

i like it. could route it up into the center console. that would be hidden so my ipod is not out in the open
