Dash lights on keep interior door lights on. Why??

I recently bought a 96 F250 CCSB PSD. When driving at night, the only way I can have lights on the dash is to turn the headlight switch all the way to the left past that indent/bump thing. But when I do that, not only the dash lights come on but the interior door lights as well. Also, if I turn the headlight knob back to the right the dash lights go off rather than dim.

The headliner lights never come on either when the doors are ajar. Not sure if that is related or not.

Any ideas as to what the issue is?

Sounds as if your headlamp switch is toast. There is a rheostat built in the switch for the purpose of dimming.Your overhead lamps could be part of same problem.

Luckily, I think that should be an easy enough fix, right? Atleast, I have seen that part on retailers sites such as LMC.

The overhead lights might just need new bulbs.
I have a working headlight switch out of my wrecked 96 I'd sell for $10 plus shipping.
