Divers seat rocking

I have a 97 F-250 and the drivers seat has a lot of play in it. I have had to put a 1/4 bolt in the opening to keep it from reclining back while driving. When i look at the teeth on the ratchet part of the assembly they look fine. I just cant figure out why the recline is not working, and making it rock. I will try and post some photos later tonight. Any suggestions?
