I need to find out how many amps my alternator is rated at. There is nothing in the owners manual. Stock 95 7.3 PSD 4x4 250 ex -cab.Any help will be appreciated

Alternators are regulated at different stages.

They have
80 amps
110amps
240 amps

Alternators put out around 14 volts when they are working properly.

Typically your truck should have 110amp/14 volt alternator on it.

Hey BC, the 240 amp system, is that the dual alt. system or is that a single. That would be one kick A-- alt, as a single.

Actually StrayCat yes it is a single alternator. It is pricey though, carquest by my house has it listed as 250 dollars plus 75 dollar core. The big kicker is you need the 240amp Alternator for the core turn in you can't turn in your 110amp alternator for the core.

My 95 has a 215 Amp Alternator (single). According to my ford book it is made by Mitsubishi and is internally regulated. They are expensive to replace.
I was able to find the parts to repair mine. There is a company in Texas called "Alterstart" they are on the web and have some good prices on alternators. I have not personally bought from them but a friend of mine has, and was pleased with the purchase.

Granted there are many different amp ratings. but according to the books there is only two original equipment alternators used on the 95 with 7.3 engine the 215 amp motorcraft #GL360 or the 130 amp motorcraft #GL504RM.
The 95 7.3 shop manual only shows the 215 amp version. The gas engines have more options.
