i think i replied to that old thread, smoke....i've heard that sometimes her in NJ, they've been known to take your lines apart and test the delivery system starting at the tank...i say if there's risl like thpse fines involved, it aint worth it....i think i'll stick to on-road diesel...unless we run out, then i'm gonna have to switch to bio...but that subject worries me, so i'll stop.

Ford void my warranty because they suspected that I had run dyed fuel in my truck. It was a huge debate that included a bunch of Ford reps. I got a new motor out of the deal, but no more warranty... oh well.

BTW, the dyed fuel doesn't necessarily have higher sulfur content. The dyed fuel just has less tolerances to meet during it's processing. Dyed fuel could have a higher sulfur content, or it could be lower... all depends. Ford is hell-bent on saying that it'll eat seals, though.

I know down here in Florida the dyed fuel and the clear fuel is the exact same fuel. When the fuel gets off loaded from the tankers its not high sulpher or low sulpher any more. They add the dye to it when it goes into the holding tanks. The dye is just to tell if you have to pay taxes or not. Back in the day there was a difference but now its just all the same except for the dye in one and not the other.

a lot of places are like that. in montana, it depended on the distibutor.....the local exxon's were dyed at the location, it was the same fuel....most of the conoco's were different grade fuel.....in some states (i think washington is one of them.....) there is no red dyed fuel....you have to show proof of off road fuel purchase (gallons used and what it was used in) and you get the refund with your taxes..........Marc

as long as it is for sure the same fuel...then no, but if there is any question about ANY higher sulpher content.......then dont run it, cause it will eat injectors.........and also be carefull, that dye will show up in the fuel for 4-10 tanks of clear fuel after one time running dyed....just a warning.........Marc
