Synthetic Oil
Alright, ive heard hear/say that synthetic oil will find every oil leak you have on the truck...Is this true...i want to run synthetic but i don't know if it will leak past my seals...the odometer says 123,000 but its a new engine of which i do not know the age. Should i ween it off of petroleum and go with 50/50 blend then full syth. I do like rotella T though and i don't like the price of synth but if i can get added protection, more power and better fuel mileage than id go for that.

oil
I have been a diesel mechanic pretty much my whole life and with my regards to synthetic it is great on a freshly broke in engine but the lubricity of the synthetic is much higher than ol dino oil. this means that all the imperfections in the engine will show their ugly heads if the compression is medioker the oil will lube better but it will work to well and all the compnants of the dino oil that are sealing will be washed away and cause more blow by and can and has caused the oil psi to drop because it is to slick. I would absolutly not recomend a 50 50 mix this can be desastorous to the engine if you are going to do the change do ti all in one shot and watch the oil pressure guage carefully just my 2cents Keep the shiney side up.
