How do you install a block heater?

Truck doesn't cold start well. I am interested in putting a block heater on it and needed to know what all was involved.

Your truck should already have a block heater from the factory, the question is do you have a cord to it...that was an option on some trucks.
Look behind the bumper on the passenger side where the tow hook comes out through the bumper and there should be a plug end back there zip tied to the other wires. If you find it, clip the zip ties and run it ou the hole where the tow hook comes out where you can reach it better. If you can't find a plug, you will have to order a cord from the Dealer or whatever other parts house you prefer and its not hard to install.

The plug for my 94 was under the drivers side battery tray attached to a wire cable. It was still cable tied from the factory. If you don't find it there the heater is above the oil filter on the drivers side. Follow the wire from there. If the truck was delivered to a warmer state it may not have a wire but the heater will be there.
