94 was the first year for the powerstroke, production started mid year. So they were 94 1/2s if you wanna get technical.

There are three different 1994 Ford diesel pickup trucks. The original 7.3 IDI (engine code M), the 7.3 IDI turbodiesel (engine code K) and the 7.3 DI Powerstroke (engine code F).

actually there are four, as the pre 99.5 DI powerstroke is slightly different than the 99.5-03 DI powerstroke

You are right, but we were referring to 1994 models.

The 94 trucks didn't even say powerstroke on them anywhere. They had the old "Turbo Diesel" badge under the F350 etc. We had one of the very first ones that summer and had thought the truck was a standard 7.3 IDI. Boy were we surprised when we got that one! It was one of the best surprises ever.

Yes, 1994 had a powerstroke diesel and they had badges on the fenders just like the 95, 96 and 97's did... The way to find out, one was either a 5 speed or an automatic. I can't remember for sure. Will find out Monday morning.

I had a F-SUPERDUTY built in '94. It had TURBO DIESEL on the fenders and POWERSTROKE on the fuel filter cover. Title said '94. I had to get parts for '95's to keep things simple.

Definatly a powerstroke!
