4x2 to 4x4 questions

I am tired of my 96 PSD 2wd dually getting stuck in the snow. I have a line on an 89 idi 4x4 dumptruck. They are both 5 speeds. From what I have found the 89 tranny will bolt to my psd. Is there any thing that would prevent this swap from being possible? I am new to Fords and want to make sure before I pick up the dump truck. Only hang up I can think of is the speedo. 89 would be mechanical and 96 is electric. Any help would be appreciated. I am not worried about the suspension swap over. I could always cut the frame and graft the front section on from the dump truck....I am no stranger to welding and fabrication.

The trans will swap in without issue. You'll need a clutch from your model year truck. You will also need a pedal assembly out of a 92+ year truck. The speed sensor for your truck is in the rear axle so theres no issue with swapping the trans. You'll need a longer rear driveshaft as the zf is shorter.

Thanks for the info. Mine is already a 5 speed so I should not have to hunt any extra parts down
